I agree with the unlikelihood of them making two American Indian friend dolls- thought it would be an unprecedented move. My guess is that Kaya is still marketed aggressively, despite low sales, because of the respect for her character.

Singing Bird in particular would have clothes almost identical to Kaya, save for differences of a few embellishments. Mariana's clothes would be very different, but I still doubt their production.

As to Emily's looks being similar to Nellie's and Kit's- again, there is a precedent set for overhauling a doll's appearance. I wouldn't be surprised if Emily appeared looking markedly different than she does now.

GreyMyst, you're right, it would make MUCH more sense for them to make Singing Bird, Kirsten sells better than Kaya. I hope they don't skip a Kaya movie, though, I'd love to see a movie for everyone.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I SO HOPE they don't change Emily's looks. I'm not sure why I wasn't too bothered with the change in Elizabeth, (perhaps because I don't have any blondes?), but I will be very sad if Emily isn't given the ginger hair. I think, going by the pictures, her hair should be a little redder than Mattel Felicity's, and the same length as Kit's. Given how much I love red hair (and England), I would not be able to pass up on Emily. They could give her more red hair, a carrot red color, something that no AGs have at the moment. Carrot red hair, light blue eyes, and, of course, the Josefina face mold (heaven forbid they make another!). Does sound an awful lot like Nellie

In Mollys birthday book Emily is described as having gingery red hair and pale blue eyes. That is different enough from the doll version of Nellie. AG certainly needs a redhead. Emily is probably the reason why AG made Nellies hair strawberry blonde rather than the light reddish brown in the newer illustrations.
It is definately a point in AGs favor that they chose the girl with the most interesting story to be in the next book.

I agree with several above... I'd almost put my bottom dollar on Molly being the next movie girl. I was actually suprised they chose to do Felicity first; I'd think Molly would gain some popularity with the whole foreign war/homefront thing.

I can't wait for the newt films though... I bet Ruthie and Linda will be adorable!

Since the movies are such a great marketing vehicle for the entire AG line, I wouldn't be surprised to see them make one for each girl.
Even if some movies draw larger audiences than others, each would increase the visibility of AG overall.

The only thing that makes it hard for me to believe that a Emily doll will be made is she is only spoken about and plays a role in only ONE of Mollys books. Were as Ruthie, Elizabeth, and Nellie played much bigger roles in the adventures and stories of each girls books. The appreances or mentionings of best friends in the girls books are as follows:

Samantha:
Meet
School
Winter

Kit: Meet
School
Christmas
Brithday
Winter

Felicity:
School
Christmas
Brithday
Winter

Molly: Brithday

The books stated are only ones where the friends Nellie, elizabeth, emily, and ruthie play major-to semi major importance and roles. I am not saying it not possible that we will see and Emily doll-but I wouldn't bet on it. As far as Valrie Tripp writing a book about Emily-as far as we know it could be a anouther book-say short story or mystery-that doesn't envolve a doll at all, just the character. We may see more movies about the other dolls, but I wouldn't say this means that with each movie there will be a friend doll- I would expect alot of new items for the existing girl whose getting the movie. Emily doesn't have enough adventures and experiences with Molly to make a intresting movie that based on the books-they would have to make alot more up.

I think Emily is just so they don't have to pick between Linda and Susan. They can always go back and make the both of them in the future. They probably will. And I'll bet after all the friend dolls have come out, they'll make Agnes and Agatha, too.

Thinking about the stories that either Linda or Susan would have, it'd be pretty boring. Their stories would probably mirror Molly's. Emily's story will, presumably, be very different. But will it be later, and she comes back to visit? Or will it be her back home in England? Maybe Molly visits her? It would be interesting to read Happy Birthday Molly in Emily's view, but I think Emily has a better story elsewhere.

I'm actually annoyed that they've suddenly decided to label Emily as Molly's "Best Friend", as we all know how Linda and Susan are so much more important. They are in all of her stories, but Emily is only in one. I think it would be unique if Molly had her two *REAL* best friends created. Instead of having bigger collections, Linda and Susan could just have Christmas dresses, pajamas, and dolls, and maybe their collections could expand from there. Lots of girls have more than one best friend, and I think it would be a good idea for them to portray that with Molly.

I totally agree with that. It would be completely unique and would be a good lesson to girls to give Molly 2 best friends. It would be difficult for girls to choose which one they wanted to get, however. Moms probably only want to buy their girls 2 dolls - 3 is a little over the top
